You Are Boxing

You are assertive, strong, and downright aggressive.

You have the power to demolish your opponent…

And you have the endurance to make sure the job is finished.

What Olympic Sport Are You?

capelet the second

so close to done

on hold

August 14th, 2008

i’m about halfway through the capelet and there would be pictures but the camera is having some technical difficulties. so…how about some music while you wait?

interesting factoid

August 13th, 2008

okay, maybe this only interesting to me but…

today, the weather is very reminiscent of fall. it’s only about 68 degrees and it’s overcast and damp and all i want to do is pull out my sweaters. here’s the interesting part; last year around the same time it was also very fall like. eeery, huh? i decided i needed to make a note of it and when it happens again next year (and you know it will) i’ll have evidence of a weather trend. then i can say “every year around the middle of august we get a little taste of fall.” i can also say “please help me, i totally need a life.”

capelet

August 12th, 2008

so after the first couple of rows it looked like i had created a rats’ nest capelet.

capelet 1st try

but after a few more rows it just looked messy

capelet 1st try.2

maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to look? the k1p1k1p1 into the same stitch is still awkward but i’m more comfortable than i was. go me! so, i think it’s time to start for real.

grateful monday

August 11th, 2008

i am grateful for…ibuprofen (can you tell how my week’s been going?)…meals on the sun porch…nights chilly enough to need a blanket…meeting new (to me) neighbors…acrylic yarn, it is so forgiving…big, fat, fuzzy bumblebees…

ravelympic update

August 10th, 2008

i decided to do a trial run of the pattern in some old yarn i had. thanx be to goodness! i’m finding the stitches a bit awkward and things don’t look right and i’m hoping that i did it right but i don’t know. i’m gonna keep going and see if it looks okay after a few more rows. by then i should have the hang of it and i can start it with the yarn i had originally intended to use.

yeah, so…

August 9th, 2008

not much progress on the capelet. i spent most of the day at my sister’s celebrating my nephew’s birthday (he’s 10!). it was nice visiting chicago. i haven’t made the trip for over a year. it’s not a hassle, i don’t know why it’s been so long. i’ll definitely have to schedule more trips.

and we’re off

ravelympics '08: the beginning

finally, i decided to go with the spiderweb capelet pattern from stitch n bitch nation. i’ve never made a capelet and i don’t have much experience with lace so i think it’ll be a challenge but not so much that i won’t be able to finish it. plus, i’ll get to use up yarn that’s been sitting around with no purpose. woohoo!
